Letter: Don’t be above the law

In response to Daphne Kivinen’s letter, “Impeachment process unfair” (Our Readers’ Views, Dec. 16), I’d like to remind her that Donald Trump advised his only true witnesses to ignore congressional subpoenas (a blatant act of obstruction of justice) and declined an invitation to testify himself. If she needs further explanation from “law professionals” I’d suggest she Google the actual testimony from the four constitutional law professors who testified on Dec. 4. Very compelling. I agree that it doesn’t matter if you’re a Republican or Democrat, a precedent is being set. Is this what we want going forward? Do we want a POTUS of either party to be all-powerful, above the law, answerable to no one?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
