Kyle Brooks drew up a play during a tie game with nine seconds left, but told Prairie guard Kam Osborn, if he saw an opening, scrap the play and take it.

“And go and win the game, “Brooks said. “And he did.”

Osborn hit a contested elbow jumper with three seconds left to lift Priarie to a 3A district win — 56-54 over Timberline — and clinch a state tournament berth.

Zeke Dixson scored 16 points, A.J. Dixson added 14 and Osborn chipped in 12 for the Falcons.

The Dixsons combined to go 11 of 14 from the free throw line. A.J. went 4 of 5 in the third and Zeke went 4 of 5 from the line in the fourth to keep Prairie ahead.

“They were able to slash, get to the rim, chase down rebounds,” Brooks said, “they did really good things down the stretch”

Prairie held Timberline to four points in the second quarter, which Brooks said fueled the team’s confidence going into the second half.

The Falcons play Capital in the district semifinals Thursday at 7:45 p.m. at Puyallup High School.
