Vancouver police responded late Friday afternoon to a reported stabbing at a home in the Wildwood neighborhood.

A man called 911 shortly before 5 p.m. to report that his mother tried to attack him so he stabbed her with scissors, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian. He believed she was dead. The caller said they had gotten into an argument over money.

Police and medical personnel responded to the home in the 13100 block of Southeast Angus Street. The woman was reportedly breathing when first responders arrived, according to emergency radio traffic.

The woman was transported to an area hospital for treatment, Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said.

The man, who was not identified, was taken into custody, Kapp said, and the department’s Domestic Violence Unit was investigating.

There is no danger to the public, Kapp said.
