Double Highway 14 rollover crash injured two

A crash on state Highway 14 near Columbia Way on Monday sent two people to the hospital, according to a Washington State Patrol trooper.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene shortly after 4:30 p.m.

Two cars rolled and were on their tops on the north shoulder, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.

Trooper Will Finn said there were no details about the cause of the crash in the responding trooper’s report.

The vehicles that flipped over struck the Jersey barrier from the westbound lanes, pushing it partially into the opposing lanes, Finn said.

Katherine Jones, 27, an Oregon resident, was cited for driving with a suspended license. Jones also had a misdemeanor arrest warrant out of Vancouver and felony warrant issued for her arrest in Multnomah County, according to Finn. Both warrants were related to DUI charges, he said.

Jones was driving a later model Toyota Camry, Finn said.

The second vehicle involved was a 2016 Mazda 3 driven by 42-year-old Victor Nava, also of Oregon, Finn said.

Jones and Nava were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Jones was treated and released; Nava was not listed at the hospital, according to a spokesman.

There were reports from the scene that Jones may have been intoxicated, but sheriff’s deputies visited her at the hospital and determined that wasn’t accurate, Finn said. She was not taken into custody or booked into Clark County Jail, he said.

Correction: The above article incorrectly reported that the crash happened in the northbound lanes of the freeway. State Highway 14 runs east and west. The crash happened in the westbound lanes.
