The city of Vancouver is making $300,000 from the Affordable Housing Fund available for projects that provide shelter to people experiencing homelessness.

The funds are available to government agencies, nonprofit groups, faith-based groups, for-profit developers and individual property owners. Recipients can use the funds to pay for shelter acquisition, construction, rehabilitation and operations.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. Aug. 21. The Vancouver City Council will announce recipients in October.

People interested in applying for the funds can attend an optional open house from 3:30 to 5 p.m. July 16 at Vancouver City Hall, 415 W. Sixth St. The application and additional guidelines can be found at cityofvancouver.us/affordablehousingfund.
