Letter: Racism is as racism does

Our 3rd District representative, Republican Jaime Herrera Beutler of Battle Ground, has voted on our behalf. On the floor of Congress, she has suggested that three American-born citizens and one naturalized citizen, all of whom are members of Congress, are not Americans because their ancestors were not white.

She has refused to condemn Trump’s obviously racist tweets suggesting these citizens should leave the country of their birth and return to the countries from which their ancestors came.

There is an election coming up in 2020, and Carolyn Long will be a candidate again. Herrera Beutler’s toadying to Trump on top of her record of not accomplishing anything constructive for the 3rd District should guide our voting.

Racism is as racism does … and we have a great example as evidenced by Jaime’s vote.
