U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, announced Wednesday that her office is accepting submissions for the 2019 Congressional Art Competition.

The competition is open to all high school students who attend a school in the state’s 3rd Congressional District, which covers the southwestern portion of Washington extending north to Centralia and east past Goldendale. The winner will have his or her artwork displayed for a year at the U.S. Capitol Building, and will receive airfare for themselves and one guest to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Accepted mediums include paintings, drawings, collages, prints, two-dimensional mixed media, computer-generated art and photographs. Submissions will be judged by a panel from the district.

Photos of the piece should be emailed to jhb.cac@gmail.com, along with a release form, which can be obtained by emailing carson.coates@mail.house.gov or calling 360-695-6292.

Submissions are due by April 18.
