Letter: Congress needs to save America

By Kelly Callahan, Battle Ground
Published: May 19, 2019, 6:00am

I am tired — as are many Americans. We are tired of this criminal president and his co-conspirators ruining this country. I’m begging Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, and Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., to start talking about impeachment.

I know the Senate doesn’t start proceedings. We are in the midst of a constitutional crisis the likes of which has never been seen, and if we do not act now, all will be lost. I truly believe this. We are already far down the road to fascism. Democrats need to stand up and quit playing “nice” with the idiotic GOP. I am disheartened, scared and weary from the last two years of shenanigans.

I’ll be honest, if it weren’t for my elderly parents, we wouldn’t be living in the U.S. I am begging my elected officials to stand up to all who would have us become a fascist dictatorship.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
