Letter: Show respect for others

We have lived in seven different cities in our lifetime and have never seen so many individuals, young and old, with absolutely no respect for private or city property.

In the four years we have lived here, there have been multiple times that dog owners have allowed their dogs to poop on our lawn, on the sidewalk and in the easement which we were told we had to maintain — where we have shrubs that we water, trim, pull the weeds and fertilize.

Individuals have thrown plastic bags, fast-food containers and other material over our fence. One time someone had a plastic bag of poop and put it near the electrical unit of our property.

In my observations, maybe 10 percent of dog owners carry bags.

I met with the acting city manager and asked her if they could put a notice in the billing; her response was the city can’t afford it.

The city needs to do something about this.
