Prep highlights: Skyview soccer stays hot with 2-0 win over Battle Ground

Goals by Morgan Smith and Riley Bowen, plus a combined shutout by two goalkeepers, helped Skyview’s girls soccer team post a 2-0 victory over Battle Ground in Tuesday’s 4A Greater St. Helens League match.

Senior Ava Harman assisted goals by Smith and Bowen. Keepers Allie Thompson and Taylor Crowley combined for 10 saves in goal, as Skyview won for the fourth time in five matches and had its third shutout of the season.

Stars of the day

Katie Kogler, Firm Foundation volleyball, had 15 kills and 16 digs as the Eagles opened 1B Columbia Valley League play with a road win over Naselle.

Dane Huddleston, Woodland boys golf, shot an even-par 35 for medalist honors in the Beavers win over Ridgefield at Lewis River.

Sophie Franklin, Camas slowpitch softball, went 4 for 4 with three doubles, a triple and four RBI as the Papermakers played Prairie to a 14-14 tie.

Derek Kropp, Ridgefield boys tennis, came back from a set down to beat Columbia River’s Wilson Keller at No. 1 singles 1-6, 6-2, 7-5.

Nicole Guthrie, Woodland volleyball, had 36 assists, 11 digs, 2 blocks, 2 aces in a sweep of Mark Morris.

Rylie Reeves, Columbia River volleyball, had 16 digs, 14 digs to beat Washougal.

Tiffany Chandler, La Center volleyball, had 17 kills, 11 digs, 3 blocks in a league-opening five-set win over Seton Catholic.

Sam Geiger, Camas boys cross country, finished in 15 minutes, 53 seconds on the 5,000 meter Lewisville Park course to win by 37 seconds in a dual meet with Battle Ground.

Halle Jenkins, Camas girls cross country, finished in 20:05 on the 5,000 meter Lewisville Park course to win by 27 seconds in a dual meet with Battle Ground.

Cameron Lantagne, Union boys cross country, was fastest at a four-team meet at Pacific Park, covering 5,000 meters in 16:30.

Madi McCuddy, Union girls cross country, was fastest at a four-team meet, covering 5,000 meters in 20:28.

Alyssa Talkington, Prairie girls soccer, scored a goal and assisted two more in a shutout win over Fort.

Meri Dunford, Prairie girls cross country, outdistanced the field at a meet in Kelso by more than two minutes, covering the 2.98-mile course in 17:53.

Samantha Williams, Skyview girls cross country, won a three-way meet on the Whipple Creek Trails, running 20:40 for 5,000 meters.
