A Vancouver man was jailed following a police chase Sunday in Florence, Ore., during which his vehicle broke down and fell apart on the highway.
Kevin Paul Hubbard, 46, was arrested on suspicion of eluding, reckless endangerment, reckless driving and driving under the influence, according to a press release from the Florence Police Department.
Lincoln County, Ore., sheriff’s deputies advised Florence police on Sunday that they were trying to find a green Ford Expedition connected to an assault and theft case in the area. The deputies said the driver was possibly intoxicated. Dispatchers received a call shortly thereafter about a vehicle fitting that description speeding and making bad passes on southbound Highway 101, police said.
The SUV was located at 7:30 p.m. in a Fred Meyer parking lot. An officer approached Hubbard, who jumped back into the vehicle, refused to get out and then reversed from a parking spot, Florence police said.
