Prep highlights: Owen Huntington, Moody lead the way at first day of district golf

Camas and Mountain View golfers are dominating play at the 4A and 3A district boys golf tournaments at Tri-Mountain.

Camas’ Owen Huntington shot a 1-under-par 71 to take a two-shot lead in the 4A tournament. Skyview’s Allen Kim is second at 73.

Huntington was one of four golfers in the top five, joined by Eli Huntington (74), Evan Chen (75 and Caleb Shira (76).

Moody will carry a five-shot lead into the final round of the 3A tournament after shooting an even-par 72 on Wednesday.

Teammate Willy Yeh shot a 77. The Thunder also had four of the top five golfers with Tyler Klepec in third (79) and Jack Campbell (83) in fifth.

Evergreen’s Russell Fearington is in fourth at 80.

The final round of both tournaments will be held Thursday.

Stars of the day

• Stephanie Santiago, Hudson’s Bay girls soccer, had two goals in a 3-0 win over Fort Vancouver.

• Ellie White, Mountain VIew girls soccer, scored the overtime goal three minutes into the extra period to give the Thunder a 5-4 league win over Kelso.

• Olivia Fothergill, Mountain VIew girls soccer, had three goals and an assist in a 5-4 league win over Kelso.

• Tyra Schaub, Skyview volleyball, posted 14 kills and six digs in a sweep of Battle Ground.

• Aidan Rowley, Columbia River boys cross country, led a team sweep at William Clark Park with a first-place time of 17:27.

• Lara Carrion, Seton Catholic girls cross country, ran a first-place time of 19:10 at Lewisville Park to help the Cougars edge La Center by one point in the team race.

• Maya Woods, Union girls soccer, had the golden goal in overtime on an assist from Audrey Moehring for a 1-0 shutout win over Camas.

• Erika Strait, Mountain View volleyball, had 14 assists, five digs, three blocks, two aces and one kill in a sweep over Evergreen.

• Braeden Glaser, Prairie girls soccer, scored a hat trick in a 6-0 shutout of Evergreen.

• Cade Bringhurst, Ridgefield boys golf, shot a 2-under 70 at Tri-Mountain in a 18-hole match win over Columbia River.

• Izzy Long, Skyview slowpitch, went 5 fot 5 with two doubles and 3 RBI in a victory over Fort Vancouver.
