Letter: Keep an eye on child’s vision

As parents, many of us worry about our kids spending too much time on computer and phone screens, especially in this unique period of COVID-19 and online school days. August is Children’s Vision and Learning month in Washington and it’s a great reminder to get your kids’ vision evaluated to start the year off right.

Eye exams can help detect and address eye strain issues your child may be experiencing due to increased screen time. It’s likely you won’t find a public screening option this fall due to schools shifting to remote learning. So, help your child get ready for school and put it on your back-to- school list along with regular school supplies. We have many qualified optometrists in our community and they will help your student get off to a good start in a challenging school year. Just visit https://eyes.org to find one.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
