Wrestling: Washougal boys, girls claim sub-regional title

The Washougal wrestling program came out on top at sub-regional tournaments Saturday in Hockinson.

In the 2A boys sub-regional, the Panthers outdistanced Ridgefield 343.5-191 to claim the team titles.

Washougal was led by sub-regional champions Stephen Warren (132), Scott Lees (152), Gus Shelley (160), Henry Jones (195) and Bryce Williams (220).

Woodland’s Gaige Pilot (106), Judeah Sanders (113) and Josiah Sanders (120) also won sub-regional titles. The complete results were not made available on Saturday.

In the girls sub-regional also at Hockinson, Washougal outscored Kelso 207-177 for the team title. Union was third at 133.

Washouga’s Joselyn Ortiz (130) and Lacey Klopman (145) won sub-regional titles. The complete results were not made available on Saturday.
