The Chieftains closed out their stay in Idaho with a big second-half defensive effort to get the victory over the host team at the Coeur d’Alene Resort Invitational.
Columbia River (4-3) held Coeur d’Alene to single digits in the last three quarters.
“We did a good job defensively on their shooters,” River coach David Long said. “It was a grind for quite a while, and then it just opened up for us in the second half.”
Dylan Valdez led the Chieftains in scoring with 15 points, and Nate Snook scored 11.
The Chieftains, who went 2-1 at the Idaho crossover event, open 2A Greater St. Helens League play Monday at Mark Morris.
