Boys basketball: Evergreen 57, Prairie 54

EVERGREEN 57, PRAIRIE 54 — Behind 17 points off the bench from Izaac Romero, the Plainsmen earned a monumental 3A Greater St. Helens League victory on the road.

The Plainsmen (9-2, 1-0) and Falcons (5-6, 0-1) are widely considered the frontrunners for the league crown.

Zyell Griffin added 15 points for Evergreen, which led 31-22 at the half. AJ Dixson (16 points) and Zeke Dixson (10) combined for 26 points and Reece Walling chipped in 12.

Prairie opened the third quarter on a 9-0 run to tie the game, but Evergreen countered with an 8-0 run to end the frame. It was back-and-forth through the final period, before the Plainsmen held on.
