Clark County will host a public open house Thursday on developing an aquatic vegetation plan for Eurasian milfoil in Vancouver Lake.

The event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at Columbia River High School, 800 N.W. 99th St. Those interested in attending can stop by anytime during the event to discuss the plan, ask questions of county staff, and offer comments and suggestions.

Project partners will also be available to discuss their involvement in developing the plan. These partners include the Watershed Alliance of Southwest Washington, Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife, Washington State Department of Natural Resources, Friends of Vancouver Lake, Vancouver Lake Sailing Club and Vancouver Lake Rowing Club.

Milfoil, an invasive aquatic weed, threatens to choke the lake in a tangle of thick vegetation and potentially render it unusable for rowing, sailing and other recreation.
