Letter: Officials need to be in touch

Eileen Quiring, of the Clark County Council, needs to resign.

Local civil rights groups pointed out that “Blue Lives Matter” symbols are not appropriate for display on county vehicles, and that extremist white nationalist groups, such as the Proud Boys, have a strong presence in Clark County. The councilors sent a letter to the NAACP to thank them for bringing the issues to their attention, but Quiring was the only councilor who refused to sign it. Instead, she declared, based on no evidence, that systemic racism does not exist in Clark County.

We need politicians at all levels of government who are not out of touch with the lives of their constituents and who can represent all Clark County residents. Please vote in November!

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
