VANCOUVER — The Boy Scouts of America Cascade Pacific Council chose Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle as the recipient of its 2020 Distinguished Citizen Award. She was presented the award at a virtual version of the organization’s Vancouver Leadership Luncheon by Ryan Hart, chief external affairs officer for the Port of Vancouver. “As my family took on Scouting, it was a great opportunity, a great adventure for all of us,” the mayor said in accepting the award. “It built character and leadership not just in our son but also in the adults that participated. I think what I enjoyed most about Scouting was the hands-on learning experiences and access for everyone. As I see Scouting evolve, I so appreciate the fact that it is considering the changes that are necessary, not just for every race but every gender expression and socio-economic status.” Watch the ceremony at https://youtu.be/Zvso8qF1o8Y.
