In response to “Take action, get involved” (Our Readers Views, June 16): How about using prayer as a first resort rather than a last resort to our national difficulties? Yes, action is important, but God-directed action, including love for one another, wins the game.
We seem able to give credit for supernatural power to Superman, Spider-Man and even Santa Claus. What happened to humbling ourselves to honor God for His sovereign and, yes, supernatural power to guide and influence and direct our human actions?
“If my people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14.
Prayer changes people, people can change circumstances for the better with God-infused guidance. Humility doesn’t come easily to us humans, myself included, but could we risk humbling ourselves in prayer for the good of our country, our fellow man, our health and well-being?
