Letter: Protect others, wear a mask

The other day, a tall, lanky man passed me in my local post office. I was wearing my mask as I made my way to the front to mail my package. As he passed me, I heard him say, “You’re not supposed to wear that thing if you’re not sick.” I stopped in my tracks and turned around to face him, but he was already walking out the door.

It saddened me to know that some people are still denying the danger of COVID-19, feeling that it won’t happen to them. But yes, it can happen to them, and to you. This virus is unpredictable and dangerous. And it can hide inside a healthy person and spread.

Maybe one day, he will realize that I wear my mask to keep people like him safe from the spreading of COVID-19. It’s all about others, not me. Please wear your mask.
