Letter: Reasons to be thankful

By Marta L. Franklin, Vancouver

2020 has been a trying year. This Thanksgiving I am grateful for The Columbian, our gem of a local, independent newspaper. Democracy requires good local journalism to survive and thrive.

Although my candidates did not all win, I am thankful also for a safe and fair mail-in ballot election. A big thanks to all who worked across city, county and state for a successful conclusion to the election during this time of COVID-19.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
