ESTHER SHORT — Fourteen volunteers from the Fort Vancouver Rose Society spruced up the Esther Short Park Rose Garden on Tuesday. While weeding and pruning flowers in masks, and social distancing as much as possible, those working in the garden heard many compliments and words of appreciation from the passing public. Members offered quick lessons to passersby who asked: “How do you know where to cut?” The Fort Vancouver Rose Society usually meets at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of the month, February through June and September through December, at the Parish Hall at St. Luke’s-San Lucas Episcopal Church in Vancouver. However, meetings have been canceled through the end of 2020 due to the pandemic. The society hopes to resume meetings Feb. 4. The public is welcome to attend every general membership meeting.
