Prep highlights: Union football caps season with 53-22 victory

Marques Cantu scored two first-quarter touchdowns and Tobias Merriweather returned a kickoff for a touchdown as the Union Titans capped their football season with a 53-22 win at Marysville-Pilchuck on Thursday night.

Cantu had an 81-yard touchdown reception, Merriweather completed a touchdown pass to Alex Gehermann and Sonny Pitts hit a 45-yard field goal as Union led 25-15 at halftime. Merriweather added an 86-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter as the Titans pulled away.

Stars of the day

• Sydney Moltrum, Camas volleyball, had 35 assists as the Papermakers capped their season at 11-1 with a win over Union.

• Keely Wieczorek, Camas girls soccer, had two saves in goal as the Papermakers tied Mountain View 0-0 to finish the season unbeaten.

• Jadyn Terry, R.A. Long softball, struck out 14 in an11-1 run win over Fort Vancouver.

• Steven Cunningham, Ridgefield boys soccer, had a goal and two assists in a 5-0 win over R.A. Long.

• Logan Simmons, Columbia River boys soccer, had four assists in River’s 5-0 win over Washougal.

• Kekai Schultz, Ridgefield softball, went 4 for 4 with two runs and two doubles in an 8-3 win over Mark Morris.

• Brendan Leach, La Center boys soccer, had three goals off assists from Jacob Dong in the Wildcats’ 3-1 win over Ilwaco.

• David Moore, Seton Catholic boys soccer, had three goals and assist in a 5-1 win over Stevenson.

• Rayleah Trice, Woodland girls golf, shot a 41 at Lewis River as the Beavers beat Washougal.
