Skyview graduate Caden Vire signs with the Milwaukee Brewers

Pitcher passes up scholarship with Arizona State to sign pro contract

Skyview High School graduate Caden Vire signed a professional baseball contract with the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.

Vire posted pictures of him signing with the Brewers on social media Sunday with the note “And now the next chapter begins.”

Vire, a 6-foot-6 left-handed pitcher, was taken in the 12th round of last month’s Major League Baseball Draft. Sunday was the deadline for players selected to sign with their respective teams.

Jim Callis of MLB.com reported that Vire signed for $497,500.

Vire signed a national letter of intent with Arizona State last November. He will now forgo joining the Sun Devils to begin his professional career.

Vire was The Columbian’s All-Region baseball player of the year in 2021 after going 4-0 with a 0.56 ERA and 74 strikeouts in 37.1 innings for Skyview during the Storm’s 17-0 season. He was the 4A Greater St. Helens League pitcher of the year.
