I-90 reopens at North Bend after crews clear spun-out cars in snowy conditions

Eastbound Interstate 90 reopened Wednesday night at North Bend after closing while crews cleared multiple spun-out vehicles amid snow and ice.

The interstate was open just after 11 p.m. Wednesday. The Washington State Department of Transportation reminded drivers that chains are required for anyone traveling except for vehicles with four- or all-wheel drive.

Eastbound lanes near Denny Creek west of Snoqualmie Pass closed shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday to clear spun-out cars that did not have chains. Then, after lanes were briefly reopened, WSDOT said they were closed again to allow crews to break up snow and ice on the hill to improve conditions for travelers.

“The culprits are semitrucks not chaining up and those driving too fast because they have a false sense of security,” WSDOT said on Twitter.
