The Hudson’s Bay girls basketball team recovered nicely after suffering their first loss of the season on Tuesday with a 68-42 2A Greater St. Helens League win over visiting R.A. Long on Thursday.
Mahaila Harrison led all scorers with 23 points. Also for Bay (5-1, 3-1), Aniyah Hampton had 17 points, and Paytin Ballard had 14.
R.A. Long (1-4, 0-3) was led in scoring by Miranda Lomax with 19.
Girls basketball
ASTORIA (ORE.) 49, HERITAGE 35 — Keanna Salavea scored 27 of Heritage’s points in the loss to Astoria at the Seaside Holiday Tourament.
MONTESANO 53, LA CENTER 37 — Montesano dominated the second half to pull away from the host Wildcats.
Trailing 25-23 at halftime, the Bulldogs (5-1) build a lead behind Paige Lisherness, who scored 11 of her 18 points in the third quarter. McKynnlie Dalan led all scorers with 23 points.
Gianna D’Emilio led La Center (4-4) with 18 points, 16 of which came in the first half.
Boys basketball
SETON CATHOLIC 63, STEVENSON 35 — Brady Angelo scored 17 points, Jacob George added 16 points and the Cougars improve to 4-2 with a non-league home win.
Angelo made five of Seton’s nine 3-pointers. Jack Jenniges added 10 points.
Kacen Back scored 11 points to lead Stevenson (1-4).
Stars of the day
- Fort Vancouver girls bowlers, turned a 46-pin lead into a 2038-1852 win over Prairie with baker game scores of 225-214.
- Sadie Burrows, Columbia River girls bowling, rolled 232 in her second game in a win over R.A. Long.
