The city of La Center is looking for volunteers interested in serving as planning commission alternates. The city has two alternate positions open; each will serve a four-year term.

The seven-member La Center Planning Commission analyzes and organizes information and data relating to land use matters dealing with zoning, transportation, public safety and the overall health and vitality of the city, then forwards its recommendations to the La Center City Council, which makes the final decisions. The commission also reviews existing policies, requests and recommendations from citizens, and inquiries from owners and developers of potentially annexable properties.

Those interested can drop off a resume in person to City Hall, 214 E. Fourth St., or email clera@ci.lacenter.wa.us.

The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Jan. 7.
