It has been a wild recruiting season for high school football players. And at least locally, Wednesday’s National Signing Day for college football could be a Stormy day.
Five Skyview High School players have announced their college choices and could make those decisions official on Wednesday.
Over the weekend, Skyview defensive back Xavier Owens announced his decision to commit to Western Oregon, and lineman Lorenzo Lombard-Bannon announced he accepted an offer to play for Simon Fraser.
They joined three other Skyview teammates who previously announced their decisions — defensive back Michael Stromberg (George Fox), lineman Brett Gray (Valparaiso) and athlete Mason Packer (Portland State).
Other local verbal commits have been made by Union linebacker Therman Bibens (George Fox), Union athlete Jake Bowen (San Diego), Columbia River tackle Dylan Dean (Central Washington), Mountain View punter/kicker Jude Mullette (Central Washington) and Prairie lineman Brody Schlaefli (Riverside College).
Another dozen players are weighing offers from college. These players could finalize a decision this week or wait for more offers to come when high school football season opens in Southwest Washington, potentially later this month.
Camas running back Jacques Badolato-Birdsell (Nevada), Camas quarterback Jake Blair (Oregon State) and Ridgefield defensive end Bailey Meek (Army) signed with their college choices during the early signing period in December.
