PORTLAND — A man was arrested after smashing out car windows Saturday in Portland’s Goose Hollow neighborhood, fighting with police and biting an officer, police say.

Jacey Hoppert, 29, is accused of two counts of assaulting a police officer, among other charges. He’s being held in the Multnomah County Detention Center.

Portland police said officers responded to the area of West Burnside Street and Southwest 16th Avenue on a report of a man smashing out car windows. They tried to contact the suspect, who they identified as Hoppert, but he started walking away, according to police.

Officers tried to take Hoppert into custody, police said, and he started throwing punches at them. More officers responded to help.

Police said some officers suffered minor injuries and that Hoppert bit one of the officers’ forearms.
