Letter: Herrera Beutler spews nonsense

Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler now blames Speaker Nancy Pelosi for “her own failures in securing the U.S. Capitol on that day.” That is rich indeed.

First, Trump was behind or responsible for this. Now it’s the speaker’s fault that a mob attacked the U.S. Capitol and chased all of you into hiding? Really?

Herrera Beutler had a chance to join a bipartisan committee investigating who and what caused this group of crazies to attack our Capitol, but she and her party refused to allow this. Now Herrera Beutler refuses to partake in this probe.

Blaming Pelosi for not protecting the Capitol could be one of the more idiotic and irrational comments she’s made. If she believes this, then she should participate on any committee investigating the reasons. Taking your marbles and going home is the coward’s way out. Herrera Beutler should fight for her beliefs, misguided and wrong as they might appear to some of us, instead of spewing political nonsense and shirking her obligations of representing her constituents here.
