Letter: Offer a look at classrooms

For over two generations our society has accepted cameras monitoring government buildings and installations, financial institutions, transportation centers, large and small commercial enterprises, sporting venues and many public spaces. Our door bells, stop lights, police uniforms and even newer automobiles have cameras to monitor compliance, safety and security. With ultra fast computers and internet streaming, large segments of the workforce have remotely performed complex tasks without the requirement of physical presence.

This same technical regime must now be applied one of the least public of public spaces, i.e., the classroom.

Parents and citizens are awakening to the formerly opaque nature of scholastic instruction which has struggled to objectively teach verbal, written and mathematical fundamentals while promoting ideological slants, inappropriate sex education and distorted history. This can be easily remedied by having nonintrusive public observation of teachers via broadcast to anyone interested. It is said that sunshine is the best disinfectant. Allowing people outside the education system to monitor the lessons being presented will inform more parents and voters and add needed accountability.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
