A car crashed into a utility pole Monday night in Hazel Dell, causing the car and power pole to burst into flames, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded at 10:22 p.m. to the 8200 block of Northeast Highway 99. Sparks and flashes from the crash could be seen for a mile, according to the sheriff’s office.

The occupants were able to get out of the car, a sheriff’s office news release said, and no one was injured.

After Clark Public Utilities turned off the power in the area, fire crews extinguished the flames.

The sheriff’s office said the crash happened after a physical altercation at a nearby apartment complex. The incident is under investigation.
