While it remains somewhat rare to witness such a blatant and public disregard for struggling and suffering men, women and children, as bloviated by Nela Nadeal in her letter “Get a job, you lazy bums” (Our Readers’ Views, April 28), she unfortunately is not alone. Many in our society have also embraced the utter selfishness and lack of compassion displayed by Ms. Nadeal, often wearing it proudly like a badge of honor. I certainly hope Ms. Nadeal doesn’t find herself in a place where she might need help, because I predict she might have trouble finding it from those who share her bubble of egocentric existence.
