Oregon man struck by car on state Highway 14 off ramp

An Oregon man was injured Monday when he was struck by a vehicle while walking on a state Highway 14 offramp in Vancouver, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Matthew P. Turner, 35, of Eugene, Ore., was walking in a traffic lane on Exit 8 at about 11:45 p.m. when he was struck by an eastbound 2003 Honda Civic driven by Itami J. Sandovalgaitan, 26, of Vancouver, according to a State Patrol bulletin.

Turner was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, according to the State Patrol. Sandovalgaitan was not injured.

Drugs or alcohol are not believed to have played a role in the incident, the State Patrol said.
