FAIRWAY — Touchmark at Fairway Village continued its annual Veterans Day tradition with a community remembrance. Air Force veteran and Touchmark resident Dick Ionata, 85, said “For those of us who have served, Veterans Day is a sacred time to remember those who have fought with us.”

The event kicked off at 11 a.m. with Touchmark residents gathering outside the main entrance, led by Ionata. The Prairie High School Junior ROTC Drill Team led a flag-raising and folding. The ROTC members then presented pins to Touchmark’s 35 resident veterans.

The Vancouver Brass Ensemble and Touchmark Full Life Ensemble joined together in performing “America the Beautiful,” which was punctuated by releasing a flock of doves provided by Bright Eyes Dove Release.

A flyover of five planes led by veteran Ron Frederiksen brought the celebration to a close.
