Letter: Our woke president

The Sept. 22 letters were slamming Roy Schimelpfenig’s opinions, especially his contribution “Our feeble president” (Sept. 12). A reading of the article reveals that his views are tenable.

How would one compare Christianity when espoused by one reader with the progressive movement of the left, which advocated eugenics, abortion and cultural cleansing? Do we conclude that progressives are anti-Christian? The progressive movement is still alive. One can see similar logic reading the First Amendment and espouse that Americans embrace all religions. The Constitution is concise. Don’t misinterpret or distort what the Constitution says.

Withdrawal from Afghanistan was fraught with ineptitude by this “woke” administration. Each principle of planning, reconnaissance, control, and security was violated. It is true that American citizens, residents, and friendlies were left behind with the State Department blatantly uncooperative with humanitarian agencies attempting to extract aforementioned groups of people. Do we have to rely on Pakistan as a benevolent state to facilitate our State Department’s responsibilities?

This reader’s view is that readers do more to corroborate information and facts from proven sources. One already encounters an abundance of bigotry, ignorance, and stupidity. Perhaps we should all become “woke” in the Merriam-Webster sense!

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
