Thor Stepina rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown and Alex Ford rushed for 107 yards and two scores, leading Prairie to a 28-6 win over Evergreen in a 3A Greater St. Helens League game Friday at McKenzie Stadium.

With Stepina at quarterback for a second straight week, the Falcons rushed for 247 yards while passing for just 13.

“The credit goes to our O-line tonight,” Stepina said. “Our O-line stepped up really big tonight and executed their blocks allowing for us to charge down the field.”

But the Prairie defense did another stellar job, holding Evergreen to a pair of Oscar Carrillo Gonzalez field goals.

Jonathan Landry played quarterback for Evergreen, passing for 213 yards and rushing for 93.

Defensinve end Israel Duncan played a role in three of Prairie’s four blocked punts against Evergreen.

“I think our defensive line really dominated tonight,” Duncan said. “Once we made the adjustment to move our defensive ends out to contain Landry, we let them know we were here.”
