Klineline Pond at Salmon Creek Regional Park will be closed to the public from 7 a.m. to dusk Wednesday to allow maintenance crews to remove a damaged picnic shelter and repair the splash pad water-play feature.

According to a Clark County Public Works press release Friday, one of the two reservable picnic shelters at the park was damaged by a tree that fell during a storm. The shelter is being removed so a new shelter can be built.

Workers will also remove three hazardous trees nearby, requiring the use of heavy equipment, machinery and large vehicles, the release said. To ensure the public’s safety, the park will be closed while the equipment is in use.

Maintenance staff will also perform maintenance and repairs on the splash pad water-play structure during the park closure.

The bridge over Salmon Creek that connects the parking lot with Klineline Pond will be closed, as well, although the parking lot will remain open.

Other areas of the park, including the Salmon Creek Greenway Trail and the softball fields, will remain open.
