Letter: Enforce the laws

By James Whalen , Vancouver

Paul Presler was dead-on in “City is going downhill” (Our Readers’ Views, Jan. 16). When it comes to following the law, why treat others differently? Why have laws on the books if you’re not going to enforce them because you’re homeless?

I pay my taxes so the police can do their job.

I am handicapped and went to Walmart the other day. I went to park in a handicap space and there was a truck in the space.

It had a young kid, about 20, in a truck on his phone. The truck had no handicap parking tags and the license plates were not on the truck or any temp sticker. Why is this not enforced and a ticket given for the violation?

I said to him, you’re parking in a spot reserved for the handicapped. His reply was not kind, and he wanted to fight a handicapped man of my age.
