An 18-year-old man was killed Tuesday night after he lost control of his pickup and crashed into a tree in Yacolt.

Trevor A. Vernon of Yacolt was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. He was the only occupant of the truck, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and personnel with North Country EMS and Clark County fire districts 13 and 10 responded at 11:46 p.m. to the 22600 block of Northeast W.H. Garner Road for reports of a single-vehicle crash with injuries.

Upon arrival, deputies found a 1988 Ford Ranger off the road, with extensive front-end damage, a sheriff’s office news release states. Investigators determined Vernon failed to negotiate a turn, left the road and struck a tree.

Sheriff’s office traffic detectives are investigating the crash.
