A Canby, Ore., man died early Sunday in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 205 northbound near east Vancouver’s Mill Plain Boulevard exit.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash occurred at 3 a.m. just north of the exit. David Porter, 59, of Chehalis was driving a tractor-trailer rig in the center lane when it was struck in the rear by a white BMW sedan driven by Edwin Chicas, 31, of Canby, Ore. The BMW rolled, and was blocking the left lane and shoulder when it was struck by a compact pickup driven by Dagoberto Vargas Perez, 35, of Vancouver.

Chicas, who was not wearing a seat belt, was killed. The other two motorists were uninjured, according to the state patrol.

The crash remains under investigation, troopers said.
