Letter: Vote against RIFT in our nation

By Donald Rose, Vancouver

We have all heard of the term RINO (Republican in Name Only), used within the Republican Party to shame party members who go against their majority’s wishes. These people at least have the redeeming quality of devotion to country, not political party.

What’s frightening is the expansion of what I would call Republicans Ignorant of Facts and Truth, or RIFT. These people are willing to accept lies and deceit in order to pledge their loyalty to an extreme wing of their party. They accept the lie of fraudulent votes and a stolen election in 2020 despite all evidence to the contrary. In this upcoming election, voters should not be voting for or supporting any RIFT candidate. Support of these candidates would result in a rift in our democracy.

These power-hungry win-at-all-costs candidates supported by Donald Trump and similar con artists would put loyalty to their boss above loyalty to the country. This country would already be under a Donald Trump dictatorship if staff within Donald Trump’s administration and other government employees had not put loyalty to country and the rule of law over loyalty to Trump. Do not vote for a single RIFT candidate this election. Our future democracy depends on it.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
