Clark Regional Wastewater District awarded a $4.75 million contract Tuesday to Vancouver-based Rotschy Inc. for construction of a Northeast 20th Avenue sewer pipeline.

According to a press release, 3,700 feet of 30-inch sewer line will be installed along the road between Northeast 139th Street and Northeast 154th Street. The district says the pipeline is needed to support continued growth along the Interstate 5 Discovery Corridor for the next 50 years.

Construction will begin in the fall and is expected to be complete by mid-2023.

Drivers using Northeast 20th Avenue should expect delays while the project is ongoing. While crews will be working in the center of the roadway, Northeast 20th Avenue will remain open in both directions.

The project will be funded by connection charges collected from new developments.

Once the project is complete, sewer services will be transferred to the new line and the existing sewer line will be abandoned.
