Battle Ground City Councilor Troy McCoy has been named to the Lower Columbia River Fish Recovery Board as the southwest cities representative.

The 15-member board includes representatives from local governments, the Legislature, the Cowlitz Indian Tribe, hydropower operators, environmental landowner interests and the public.

The board coordinates and implements plans to restore and manage water to improve salmon, steelhead and bull trout populations.

“As a resident of the Pacific Northwest for most of my life, I have had the privilege of enjoying the many amenities our region has to offer,” McCoy said in a press release Monday. “I am excited about the prospect of helping realize this board’s goals of improving the local fish population while, at the same time, furthering the city’s vision plan.”

The fish recovery board covers Clark, Cowlitz, Lewis, Skamania and Wahkiakum counties.
