Three-hit game for Mountain View alum McCarthy as Raptors beat Kelowna

The Ridgefield Raptors overcame an early 2-1 deficit to pull away from the Kelowna Falcons for a 6-2 West Coast League baseball victory on Wednesday night in British Columbia.

Mountain View High grad and University of Portland catcher Riley McCarthy was 3 for 5 with a double and RBI for the Raptors (4-1).

Eastyn Culp pitched the final five innings of shut out ball for the win. He allowed three hits and struck out three.

Ridgefield scored a run in the top of the first inning, and Kelowna answered with its two runs in the bottom of the first.

The Raptors pulled away with a run in the fifth and sixth and then a three-run seventh.

Safea Villaruz-Mauai’s sacrifice fly in the sixth inning scored Will Chambers for the tiebreaking run, putting Ridgefield ahead 3-2.

NEXT GAME: Ridgefield goes for the three-game sweep at Kelowna, 6:35 p.m. Thursday.
