Playing without Utah State signee Natalie Fraley, Kelso fell behind early and could not rally against Hermiston, falling to the Bulldogs 57-46 in an elimination game Wednesday at the 3A girls basketball state tournament in Tacoma.

Fraley was injured in the first half of last Saturday’s loss to Arlington in the regional round and did not suit up on Wednesday.

Evermore Kaiser did her best to fill the void, scoring 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting and adding 13 rebounds.

But Kelso fell behind 35-15 halftime and could not rally in the second half.

Lexi Grumbois added nine points for Kelso, which was 2 of 13 from 3-point range.
