A man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly firing a handgun, causing debris to ricochet and hit another man in the face, during an apparent drug deal in a parking lot in central Vancouver, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Police responded at about 8:30 p.m. to a reported disturbance with a weapon at the Walmart Neighborhood Market, 2201 Grand Blvd.

Arriving officers found a man who suffered a facial injury, and they learned he and another man were allegedly conducting a drug deal in the parking lot, according to a department news release.

The interaction turned violent, and the suspect grabbed a handgun and fired it at the feet of the victim, causing either fragments of brick or projectile to ricochet and strike the victim’s face, police said.

Officers found a man, identified as Calvin S. Davis, nearby, who they said matched the description of the suspect. Witnesses confirmed he was the man involved in the shooting, the police department said.

Davis was booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault.
