Clark County Green Business will host a three-part virtual workshop series this spring focused on waste reduction.

The workshop series includes: state sustainability initiatives at 8:30 a.m. March 16; Nothing Goes “Away”: sustainable waste management at 8:30 a.m. April 20; and handling hazardous materials at 8:30 a.m. May 11.

The first session on sustainability initiatives will feature a presentation by representatives from the Washington State Department of Ecology on new statewide waste-reduction laws and mandates, including the single-use service ware law, single-use plastic bag ban, and the Use Food Well Washington Plan, a program to reduce food waste.

The second session, Nothing Goes “Away”: Sustainable Waste Management, will explore what it means to throw something away and what happens to materials after they’re thrown in the trash. The session will cover the recycling process and common waste misconceptions and provide actionable steps to generate less waste in a business.

The final session will focus on hazardous materials with another presentation from Ecology. The workshop will explain hazardous waste, how to manage and dispose of it, and how to reduce the amount generated.

Preregistration for each session is required. For information or to register, go to https://clarkgreenbiz.com.
