Forced to lean more on its passing game on a wet and windy night, Woodland fell to W.F. West of Chehalis 34-7 in a 2A district football playoff game Friday in Centralia.

W.F. West held the Beavers to just 11 yards rushing. Quarterback Brett Martynowicz passed for 178 yards on 11-of-34 passing.

The Beavers’ defense in the red zone helped stop some early Bearcat drives, helping to keep the game close.

Martynowicz completed 37-yard touchdown pass to Landon Utter in the second quarter to send Woodland into halftime down 14-7.

But the Bearcats, who rushed for 273 yards, put the game away in the second half. Quarterback Gavin Fugate led W.F. West with 127 yards rushing and one touchdown.

The Bearcats also intercepted four Woodland passes.
